Here is a list of my personal favorite hooks for carp fishing:

1) Venom series carp hooks
Series 2x - double strength for the largest fish
Series 1x - same as 2x but lighter gauge wire
StiffRigz - Perfect hook for flourocarbon, monofilament, stiff hooklength materials and 'D' rigs.
Stinger - All round carp hook. Suitable for use with bottom baits and also buoyant baits
Gaper - Very similar to STINGER hook pattern but with a slightly wider gape, and slightly shorter shank to reduce hook pulls.

All the Venom hooks are outstanding quality and a excellent value at about $3.99 USD per pack of 10

2) Korda
Kurv Shank - The Kurv is a teflon coated medium curved shank, with a long ultra sharp point.
Wide Gape X - This super strong Teflon coated pattern is extremely reliable and perfect for big carp in demanding situations.

Korda is a leading name in quality carp tackle. Approx. $5.75 USD per pack of 10

3) Gamakatsu
G-Carp A1 with camouflage coating
G-Carp A1 Teflon Coated D-Rig MB Hook
G-Carp Pop-Up Hook
G-Carp Super Hook

Gamakatsu has always been a proven leader in high quality fishing hooks and their carp hook line is no exception. Approx. $6.99 - $8.99 USD per pack of 10.

4) Eagle Claw Egg/Nymph Hook - These hooks are for the budget minded carp fisherman. they are a great design to use when taking kids fishing, learning to use hair rigs or in very snaggy areas.

Approx $8.99 USD per pack of 100

Thanks for the article CarpHunter, this is a great resource on carp hooks in the USA.

Soon I am planning a tackle review part of the site.

Mustad #6 Sproat hook is a great, strong economy priced hook. Works great loaded up with corn kernels or covered in with a doughball. They are a little over $4 for 100

The arms point series is one of my favorites. They are extremely sharp and the patterns are spot on. They hook absolutely almost 100% of nosy fish because the hooks are so light and thus really easy to balance with a smaller bait for the actual hook size. My only complaint is that they have cost me more than a few monster fish. In certain places I have to fish almost totally locked up because it's so snaggy. Hooked what felt like good fish and lost them in the first few seconds trying to play them up and out. Didn't feel any rubbing or anything just bang fish off. Reel in broken hearted only to find a straightened hook. Gut spilling horror!!!! I'm still looking for a strong enough hook that is still nice and light. I basically went nuts and ordered one of every wide gape I could find in the western hemisphere. I'll post my article this fall after I've put them all through the gauntlet.
