Mission for tournament
The Red Mill Inn Fall Carp Classic is intended to create awareness about carp angling in Baldwinsville, New York State, and the U.S.A. in general. Internationally, carp is one of the most highly respected freshwater sport fish, largely due to its size, strength and resilience. It is time we Americans stop mistreating this species and start to respect it for its beauty and ability to create economic stimulus for Upstate New York and beyond during this time of national recession.

Event dates, format and registration:
The Fall Carp Classic will be held Thursday-Saturday, October 22-24, 2009. Competitive angling will be Friday and Saturday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm each day, with a peg draw each morning at 7:00. There will be registration and a welcome event at The Red Mill Inn Thursday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm and the closing event will be held 7:00 – 9:00 pm Saturday evening, also at The Red Mill Inn.

Anglers will be competing not only against the entire field for top honors, but will also be randomly paired in five-team groups to maximize prize opportunities. Also, peg locations will be randomly assigned each day, meaning most anglers will not fish the same location twice. Registration is limited to the first 25 teams.

The tournament entry fee is $500 per team, with registration and fee due by October 1, 2009. No refunds will be honored after October 5.

Prizes include:

$25,000 grand prize for Big 4 exceeding 140 lbs.
$6,500 Big 4 Fish Overall
$1,000 Big Fish Overall
$500 per section winner for Big 4 (Overall winner excluded from its section; 2nd place will receive the $500 prize in that section)
Gift certificates from local businesses for door prizes
Tackle from participating sponsors

Rules
Competitors must be at least 16 years old; anglers 16 or 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years old. Teams are also allowed a designated ‘runner’ who can assist in bait preparation and running errands. Runners must be at least 16 years old.

The Fall Carp Classic observes a strict catch and release policy for the ethical treatment of the fish. No pre-baiting is allowed two weeks prior to event, but pre-baiting peg locations will be allowed each day from 7:30 – online casino 8:00 am before the start of competition.

Sponsors
The tournament host committee is seeking local area business sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities include naming rights for top prizes, door prizes for competing anglers and in-kind products and services.

Sponsorship benefits include event signage, recognition in local press coverage and on the tournament website (www.cnycarp.com), and the satisfaction of knowing your business is at the forefront of welcoming and servicing the fastest growing segment of local tourism.

Those interested in participating are asked to contact The Red Mill Inn at 315-635-4871. Leave your contact information at any hour of the day, and a tournament committee member will contact you within 24 hours.

Volunteers
The tournament host committee is also seeking volunteers to assist with event scorekeeping, weigh marshaling and site preparation prior to the event. This is a great opportunity for high school seniors to earn their community service credits or for children and adults to learn about a new hobby.

Those interested in participating are asked to contact The Red Mill Inn at 315-635-4871. Leave your contact information at any hour of the day, and a tournament committee member will contact you within 24 hours.
